Inigo's Red Wings

Well we won the cup, What a thrill it was......you can't imagine. I was home alone with my dogs
screaming and cheering.....The experience rates right up there with watching my daughters be born.
Then, what a bringdown. Vladdy was a top favorite of mine. Nothing left to say.
Have you been watching FOX.....man I hate that fricking channel. Loud and obnoxious...must have
been produced by the same asshole that thought it a good idea to play Rock and Roll at 100 dB before
each drop of the puck. I will miss PASS.

The new anouncer....sounds Canadian. He is better than that dweeboo we had last year.
Honest, even Sid Abel would be better the Mike ( You Got That Right) Goldberg.
Mickey seems a bit repressed this year....is he worried for his job or has he lost interest?

I like to see Sergei play but......

Big salaries mean the owners have to come up with more revenue. They do this by
selling to the highest bidder. FOX is loud crass and abrasive. They paid a ton of money to get
the games from PASS. PASS did an excellent job. Have you been watching the games on
FOX? They have about three commercials. Little Caesers, Tuffy mufflers and Chrysler. No more
local flavor in the adds....bet ya FOX is charging up the wazzuu for time.
The only loss to the fans is $$$$$$ and they are going to pay it one way or another if the big
head prima donna's get to call the shots.....I hope Segei sits out all season before Ilitch gives in.

Hockey is a tough sport but I think the fans????? are tougher. I read a lot of bad analysis in this forum....a whole lot.
1. Vernon is an excellent goalie. He won a Stanley Cup has over 300 wins and will be a Hall of Famer.
2. Osgood lets in the soft goals. It was Ozzie giving up 3 goals on 18 shots Not Vernon.
3. Anyone that says the Wings play without emotion, ever in these play-offs are dead wrong. Hockey is emotion.
4. Scotty Bowman is a great coach...he just moves more deliberately than most because he is wise with experience.
5. The Russian unit was apart so long because Bowman didn't want the opposition studying up on them.
6. We have an outstanding defense. They give up very few shots and the majority that go in are not preventable by any goaler.
7. The Red Wings have a better shot at winning this year than the previous two because:
.....................................1) They have been there
.....................................2) They have beefed up
.....................................3) They are a team now more than ever
8. I am not convinced they can beat the avalanche. Colorado is a fine team with tons of talent. More than the Wings. I wish it wasn't so but it is. For the wings to beat them they have to hit hit hit! Just as in their last victory over them.
9. Kirk Maltby is a key as is Slava Fetisov. Maltby because he can hit, skate and score. Fetisov because if he gets tired he will lose the puck at crucial times.
10. Look for Larionov to key the BIG WIN.

The Red Wings did a fine job in the series. I was hoping that the Stars would win cause they would then be a team that thought whew....we barely made it, they would have doubts and they would be mentally and physically a bit spent. Edmonton, on the other hand is brimming with confidence. Anaheim is a good team but didn't accomplish much by beating the Coyotes. The Wings if their current attitude holds will beat them in five. So,

Wings over Ducks
Colorado over Edmonton
Philly over Sabres
Jersey over Rangers
Remember I got 6 outta 8 right in the first round......Did you?

What I saw in the game last night was not what I heard Darren and Dave describing. On at least two occasions if the Wings had had someone in front of the net they could have potted a goal. Fuhr gave up some dandy rebounds but no one was in front of the net. If Dino had been out there we might have won. The play by Murphy was a good example. Kozzie was home but he isn't strong enough.

I don't want to hear any more about lack of emotion. That is not the problem. Vernon was very good last night, eh? And Shanahan better quit trying so hard and Scotty better put McCarty back on a line with Yzerman and Shanahan. That's how I see it.

In case you missed it After the brawl in Detroit, the Avalanche'sClaude Lemieux has said he'll stick up for himself -- but this is ridiculous. Lemieux was shooting pucks into an empty net after a practice. He took a pass from Alexei Gusarov, but wasn't able to get out of the way when the puck bounced off his stick and smacked him in the nose, breaking it. Detroit's favorite villain fell to the ice, bleeding and screaming in pain, while teammates yelled for help. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

I saw in the game against the Avalance something I haven't seen for along time, maybe 8 years. I saw guys that were hanging together as one. They all played last night for each other. Remember Mel Bridgman....remember Gerrad Gallant? These guys brought that to the Red Wings and that facet of the Detroit game has been absent for along time.

I was also glad to see Scotty resting the senior defenseman.....he should also rest Yzerman on and off the rest of the season and Larionov. Scooty must know the cumulative effects of the season. Did you catch the FOX sports announcers after the game....man they SUCK

Time for some observations: The Stars had 12 shots on goal tonight and potted three goals. I have been saying for some time that Ozzie lets in too many. Even if he is back from an injury, so what. I think it is time to give Verny the job. After the game tonite I listened to Paul Chapman on WJR's Sportswrap. This man really doesn't know the game, sorry. His callers make some astute observations and he poo-poos them. He sounds like a man paid to say good things in spite of the evidence. I don't feel the Red Wings are a great team at this time....but I still love `em. They must win home games to contend and tonite was their first in over a month. Vlady is a GREATdefenseman. I will take the back to back wins though :-)
